Excellent theatre. Professional fundraising.

Excellent Theatre Powerful dramas.

The most powerful dramas in English literature. Sure, the old comedies and musicals and other chestnuts are wonderful. But wouldn't like to sink your heart into a meaningful, moving drama that clutches your heart and provokes your thoughts? That is Charity Readers Theatre.

Professional Fundraising Transparent and Effective

All of your donation goes to charity. Not 10% like some so called "charities." Not just 50%; which is better. But still not good enough. Not 100% of the net. (Because who knows how much the expenses are.) But at a CRT fundraising show, the charity gets 100% of your donation. 100%.

A Show In A Week One Performance Only

CRT is all about acting, acting, acting. There are almost no costumes, no props, no sets, no lighting design, no sound design, no subtitles. It’s all acting. And as it is readers theatre, actors will carry scripts to refer to. CRT is an artistic process where actors rehearse for only one week. And at the end of that week, we do one performance only.

CRT Seal of Approval Effective and Transparent Charity Beneficiaries

CRT beneficiary charities are professionally researched and vetted. They live up to the highest standards of transparency and effectiveness. They make our community a better place to live. In addition to your ticket purchase donation, additional donations are welcome.

A Show in a Week

Charity Readers Theatre, presented by Beijing Playhouse Drama Club, is all about acting, acting, acting. There are almost no costumes, no props, no sets, no lighting design, no sound design, no subtitles. It’s all acting. And as it is readers theatre, actors will carry scripts to refer to.
Charity Readers Theatre is an artistic process where actors rehearse for only one week. And at the end of that week, we do one performance only. It’s a show in a week. Main stage shows take more than two months to rehearse and perform for almost one month—a three month process. From auditions to one performance only, Charity Readers Theatre is a show in a week. While the length of commitment is much less, one week as opposed to three months, that is a very intense week. Actors who are cast will live and breathe this show during that that week.
All CRT shows have just one performance. A chance to see excellent theatre and support a good charity—one night only.

100% Donated to Charity

100% to Charity

Some so-called organizations donate 10% to the charity. That’s not fundraising. That’s marketing. Groan.  Some donate 50%. That’s better. But still not professional. Some donate 100% of the net. But you’re never quite sure what the expenses are. So you don’t know how much that charity gets. With Charity Readers Theatre 100% of your ticket purchase donation goes to charity. Yes, all of it.

Efficient and Transparent

CRT makes sure our selected NGO beneficiaries adhere to the highest standards. We properly vet the NGOs to ensure efficiency and transparency.

Bar Sales Donated, Too

When you buy a drink at the bar, that’s donated, too. 100% of it. The cost of buying the drinks and snacks wholesale is donated. So that way all of your purchase goes to the NGO.
